PIT BULLS GONE WILD

Okay maybe actually just....Wilde...Nicole Wilde that is. "Nic" as we know her, has been a long time friend of this organization. She is actually one of the founders of Villalobos Rescue Center (along with Tia) when it started about 15 years ago. After leaving Villalobos to pursue her dream in dog training, she has also become quite the popular author on various canine behavior.

Here are just a couple of her published books that you can now order. When you purchase one of these books, use the code "PITBULL" and a percentage of all sales will come to Villalobos. So while you "learn", we "earn"!!

HELP FOR YOUR FEARFUL DOG

"If your pit bull has fear issues or is reactive toward other dogs or people, this is the book for you. Nicole Wilde has trained pit bulls, wolf hybrids, and a variety of dog breeds for the last fifteen years. This 400+ page volume includes plenty of photos and step-by-step instructions, and covers topics such as canine body language, how your body language affects your dog, skills to teach, the influence of nutrition and exercise on behavior, and a lot more. Chapters include instructions on desensitizing your dog to strangers, other dogs, vet visits, riding in cars, and a lot more." To order, go to the following link:

SO YOU WANT TO BE A DOG TRAINER

This is a GREAT book for those who are wanting to start their own dog training business. This book teaches you all about contracts, legalities and good ole customer service. I'm especially excited that her book has now become popular among the Prison Dog programs. What a great inspiration to inmates who are trying to learn a career in dog training and are preparing themselves for a successful release by learning all they can from this book. I think this read is one of the best ideas available on paper. To order, go to the following link:

Nicole Wilde, CPDT (Certified Pet Dog Trainer) is the author of eight books. She lectures internationally and domestically on canine behavior, is an "Ask the Expert" columnist for Modern Dog magazine, and co-stars in the DVD Train Your Dog: The Positive Gentle Method. Nicole is on the Advisory Board of the Companion Animal Sciences Institute, and a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).

DIAMOND WHEELCHAIR TEST

DIAMOND DIRT BIKE TEST

with a twin :)

TYR

Here's a video of one of our favourite dogs Tyr who is looking for a home. This over sized lap dog has been through hell and back. Picked up as a stray by the shelter, it was apparent that he was the victim of illegal dog fighting (why do they call it illegal? Of course it's illegal !!) His face, head and chest were chewed up like hamburger meat. So it's no wonder that he's dog aggressive. But HE LOVES PEOPLE! Non stop licking, kissing and slobbering

DIAMONDS JOURNEY

We went to the Downey Shelter needing to find a 'double' for one of our movie dogs but when we got there the dog we went to see was not right for the job. But the shelter staff begged and pleaded for us to come see this other dog they had had for months that had stolen their hearts.

Now, normally blue dogs are not our first choice as we find their temperament is not as solid as the regular pit bulls (as they are mostly bred for looks rather than temperament) but we went to see her anyway. Diamond was so happy, friendly and comfortable in the chaos of the shelter and pretty amazing looking too. So we took a chance and bailed her out.

We had Diamond for about six months before we found her a home but unfortunately her new owners had a family crisis and could not keep her. So she was returned (luckily she had previously been fostered by one of our trainers Louise so she went back to stay with her until a new home could be found)

Luckily for Diamond (and Louise) the most amazing family came along from North Carolina, the Starks. They are an active family with four kids who skateboard, ride motocross and compete in BMX bike competitions.

Because of all the variables in this home, including a daughter in a wheelchair, we began to test her here with all of the above. Upon her first try, she did amazing! We knew this was going to be a great match. She had finally found her perfect home and now all we had to do was get her there.

Please check out this video of her journey to her happy new home.

The perfect dog has now found her perfect family.

LOSING A GOOD FRIEND

Its taken me some time to post this. We lost our good ole friend Snorky to a brain tumor. Only a few weeks after his big appearance on The Ellen Show, he left us. Thank you Ellen for allowing us the honor and letting Snorky make such a big impact on the world. Rest in peace buddy. We miss that dorky smile of yours.

THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION

Here custom bike builder John shows off his latest creation "Redemption" built as a fundrasier for Villalobos Rescue Center. The bike will be raffled off as soon as we meet the quota on tickets. To purchase a ticket, go to our main website at: http://www.vrcpitbull/.

THE ORLANDO BULLY ANNIVERSARY SHOW

My daughters Tania and Mariah had a great time at the Orlando show put on by Razor's Edge and the American Bully world. Here Dave Wison is flanked by my two trouble making offspring. Oh Dave, if only you knew how much easier it is to hang out with a bunch of Pit Bulls.

BOOMER

Many of you have followed this sad story. Boomer's owner had become a friend of ours. Terry was just a nice kid who had a big heart. He suddenly disappeared and it wasn't until his dog was found running loose that everyone knew something was wrong. He LOVED his dog and would never leave him. Well its been over a year and no one has heard nor seen Terry. So for Boomer's sake, we found him a great home in Arizona. A happy ending to a sad story.

TREJO GOT ADOPTED!

So the dog that came here as the most physically and emotionally abused, finally got a loving home of his own. It took over a year to gain his trust back, but now Trejo lives with Sharon and her son and their 3 cats. We feel so fortunate to have found a family like this who was willing to give him the patience he needed to continue his journey to rehabilitation. And of course Trejo owes his life, to Danny and Debbie Trejo for jumping in to take him from the bad guys. He is honored to carry your name.
