A very happy day today. Harrison our "Plab" (that's a Pit/Lab mix or at least that's what we call them) went to a new home today. But not just any home. He left for Washington to learn what it takes to become a narcotics detection dog (drug dog). Harrison has been here for about a year and he has been one of our more difficult dogs to adopt out. This is due to his "working" behavior: meaning this dog constantly wanted a job to do. He was 24/7 on!!!! And if not for the dedication of our volunteer trainer Melanie from Paws to Luv, we never would've known how insane Harrison was for a ball or toy. These are the characteristics needed to become a good drug or bomb dog and Harrison appears to have what it takes. Thank you Don Leahan from North West LawDog Rescue for taking him but most importantly thank you Melanie for seeing Harrison's talent and not giving up on him. It is because of you an only you, that he is now on his way to being a cool dog with a cool job.

A Plab? I almost snorted coffee out my nose.. that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Harrison (and High5 to all for getting him right where he needs to be)! To take the time to see his hidden talent shows true dedication.. KUDOS! He is darling.. please keep us updated!
Our Dobe is obsessed with stealing the kids' stuffed animals (and flaunting it). Hmmm.. maybe I need to put him to work..
All awesomeness aside, I have to say whoever is photographing the dogs for you is a bit of an unsung hero. We all know pits are camera hams but that Plab, head cocked, (plab?! Lmao), you can TOTALLY see the wheels turning in there! Congrats on the new job/new life Harrison and high five to Melanie for listening to him!!
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, how can you not love those ears? LOL
Plab...I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!! Way to go Harrison!!!
ReplyDelete"Plab" that's cute! I call my pit bull/labrador mix a "Pitador".
ReplyDeletePlab...too cute...I call my Pit/Pekingese a Pekabull...lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats on placing Harrison! :~) You all do such great things!
ReplyDeleteTia, do you all still need help moving the dogs to the new location?
Congrats Harrison!!! Great job Tia. He will be so great!!!!
ReplyDeletei think everything you guys do for these dogs is by far amazing, was watching another show, {pit boss} earlier this evening, it broke my heart to see people fighting pit bulls. dogs have so much love to give, especially pits. i just wanted to say i'm so glad that you help rescue dogs and you all are awesome.. also big thanks to animal planet! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for everyone that has worked with Harrison to get him to his new home. You guys are AWSOME!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I have heard that Pit Bulls can be very good rescue dogs as well.
ReplyDeleteIt’s good to see that another wonderful dog is going to a loving home and is going to be employed soon! I laugh all the time I go online and hear people say that Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are all crazy vicious dogs. I have been chased, charged and almost bitten by so many Chihuahuas, Jack Russells, Dalmatians, and a few Retriever mixes than I care to mention. However never have I once been charged, chased or almost bitten by Pit Bulls, Boxers, Dobermans, Mastiffs, Rottweilers or any other wronged breed. After all it is how you treat your dog, no matter the breed, not what breed it is.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good works guys =) !
