One of our dream projects is finally under way. Thanks to a grant gifted to us, we are able to start our LA. to L.A. Pit Bull Project. The funding given will allow us to drive into various parts of Louisiana on a case by case basis and bring back a Pit Bull in need, back here to Villalobos. With the state of Louisiana literally without any Pit Bull rescue facilities, we offered our assistance after a visit earlier this year to New Orleans and the Katrina area. Next week we will be bringing back "Noel", a little black and white female who ended up at a very high kill shelter in Baton Rouge. Thanks to the kindness of the Pearl Family Foundation, we will be able to help the Pit Bulls of the South.

South Louisiana
As soon as we get settled in our new place out here in Cali, we will actually have a satillite (crap did I spell that right?) location out in Louisiana. I can't wait!
ReplyDeletethis is such great news, there are so many dogs suffering in the south, especially our babies.
ReplyDeleteTia! I have been wanting to THANK YOU SO much! Yall are coming to Baton Rouge next Friday to rescue Noelle. I have been working for about a month now trying to get her out of Animal Control down here. I am SO happy to hear that you are going to come get her. Animal Control is not a place for any dog...ESPECIALLY not a Pit Bull in Baton Rouge! You have NO idea how thankful I am and how lucky she is! I fought until the bitter end! She was scheduled for euthanization Thursday, yesterday. We got confirmation that you were going to come the day before. Once Animal Control knew you were coming, they were not going to euthanize her...go figure...let a camera get involved, of course they will be the "good guys." I am not sure if you will be coming or not...if you are, I cannot wait to meet you, if not, I wish I could give you a HUGE hug! THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Merrie told me about the LA to LA project yall are putting together! I think it is GREAT! Let me know if I can do ANYTHING in Baton Rouge. I know there are a number of people that would be willing to help!
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping take care of the pit bulls in Louisiana. My dad died in October and I searched and searched for a pit bull rescue for people to donate to I his honor and realized there wasn't one. The pit bull he gave me is sitting next to me on the couch. What you do touches my heart. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePit bulls are my favorite breed, they are such charming dogs. I am proud owner of 2 bullys along with 3 other rescue dogs. I'm training to become a vet tech and hope to one day open my own pit bull rescue here on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteA Louisiana branch? Awesome! Please send updates or request for help to afowler711@gmail.com. The Baton Rouge Shelter should be renamed "bully breed death row". I am so excited to hear they may now have a chance.
